- 雑誌「庭」の189号は、これまでの編集体制を一新し、フルリニューアルした号。本特集の『庭師道具図鑑』は、庭師が日常的に使用する道具を、いま一度、知り、再確認することを目的として立ち上げられた。第一回のテーマとして選ばれたのは「わらび手」。木鋏とも植木鋏とも呼ばれる中で、京型のものを京都では、こう呼ぶ。庭の現場で使われる最もスタンダードな鋏だが、本場の京都で鋏をつくり続けている二人の鍛冶屋、野中鉄治郎さんと大隅義信さんに「わらび手」について話を伺った。

- Issue 189 of the magazine Niwa was a fully renewed edition, marking a complete overhaul of its previous editorial structure. The feature series "Niwashi Dogu Zukan (Illustrated Guide to Landscaper's Tools)" was launched with the purpose of revisiting and re-examining the tools that landscapers use on a daily basis. The theme selected for the first installment was the "Warabi-te". While generally known across Japan as Kibasami (wood shears) or Uekibasami (plant shears), this traditional Japanese shear featuring looped handles—specifically the Kyoto-style—is referred to as "Warabi-te" in Kyoto. Although it is the most standard shear used in landscaping sites, we interviewed two blacksmiths, Tetsujiro Nonaka and Yoshinobu Osumi, who continue to forge these shears in their authentic home of Kyoto, to hear their insights on the "Warabi-te".
